Vernon is pictured above performing a 115 lb dead-lift just 8 weeks after starting PT at Prairie Spine and Pain Institute.
Vernon came to Prairie Spine and Pain Institute following an injury he suffered to his spine and shoulder in October of 2014. Since his job requires him to be physically fit, he was not able to perform his duties. He tried some early conservative treatment through a chiropractic and physical therapy clinic closer to his home. Unfortunately he was not obtaining the lasting relief that he was looking for in order to get back to work and move on with his active life style. Needless to say, this became very stressful and he began to lose hope.
Vernon was referred to Prairie Spine and Pain Institute for a spine consultation. After a thorough examination by Derek Morrow, PA-C, Vernon was diagnosed with a lumbar sprain/strain and referred to our physical therapy (PT) department. This is an injury to the soft tissues that support our joints, more specifically the muscles and ligaments supporting the spine.
While this type of injury can seem simple in nature, it can often lead to chronic pain and dysfunction if left untreated.
As we began to work with Vernon in physical therapy (PT), we saw the determination and effort that it takes to fully recover from an injury. During his time in PT he participated in a comprehensive therapeutic exercise program that restored range of motion, strength and stability to his spine. Ultimately, his pain was completely eliminated. He also had the unique opportunity to utilize the Monitored Rehab System that is very unique to the PT department at Prairie Spine and Pain Institute. This is the same equipment used by elite athletes at both the collegiate and professional levels.
When I got hurt I was feeling hopeless but that all changed when I started physical therapy here at Prairie Spine & Pain Institute. They gave me hope.
Thank you.
