Becker’s ASC Review featured 10 new surgery centers from around the country that have received certificate of need approvals or opened in certificate of need states.
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, certificate of Need programs are aimed at restraining health care facility costs and allowing coordinated planning of new services and construction. Laws authorizing such programs are one mechanism by which state governments seek to reduce overall health and medical costs. Illinois is a certificate of need state.
