Students across the country are heading back to school and for many that means carrying heavy text books and other supplies in their backpack. More than 60% of 11-15 year-old children complain of back pain from heavy backpacks, and experts warn that’s the first sign their bags may be too heavy. NBC’s Tom Costello reports further in the video below, warning all parents that if a child’s backpack exceeds 10% of their total body weight, then it’s too heavy for them to be carrying around school.
