Robert “Bob” Handegan was looking for relief when he began suffering from lower-back and leg pain last August after an injury. Bob was looking for a care team that would listen to his concerns while helping him get his life back on track, so he chose to seek a second opinion on the cause of his pain from the expert spine care team at Prairie Spine & Pain Institute.
“Having been a professional athlete for 16 years, I have had to see several surgeons over the years. I have never worked with a doctor or staff that was as professional, caring and thorough as the staff at Prairie Spine & Pain Institute,” Bob stated.
Bob was thoroughly evaluated and presented with many options. “From the consultation through to the rehabilitation, it was a great experience.” Bob said. “I always felt like my best interests were their first priority.”
Given his strenuous job and active lifestyle, Bob wanted an option that allowed for a minimized recovery time, but could give him long-term results. “Bob was able to benefit from the comprehensive services we provide at Prairie Spine & Pain Institute,” said Dr. Richard Kube. “Bob had a minimally invasive surgery in our Prairie SurgiCare state-of-the-art surgical suite, which is fully accredited by AAAHC. Due to the nature of the procedure, Bob was able to have the surgery done on site and go home in the same day. Bob completed rehab in our therapy gym and experienced a very good overall result.”
Bob has since returned to his job as a security officer without restrictions, as well as resumed working out using some of his old professional fighter routines.
Using the latest advances in technology, Dr. Kube is able to minimize recovery time and optimize surgical outcomes. “Our approach is simple,” states Dr. Kube. “We listen to the patient and treat them as a true customer who wants service from our staff and pain relief from our treatment plans. We are constantly refining our techniques so that the patient experience, both medical and personal, is second to none.”
